Middle Years Programme
49 titlesIB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Resources โ Ages 11-16
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging curriculum framework for students aged 11 to 16, designed to bridge the gap between the Primary Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. The MYP is a five-year programme, encouraging students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. This collection brings together print, digital, and bundle resources from leading publishers, including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson Education, Hachette Learning, Haese Mathematics, and IB Source, to support MYP classrooms and schools.
The 8 MYP Subject Groups
The MYP curriculum comprises eight subject groups:
- Language and Literature โ developing expression, comprehension, and critical response to texts
- Language Acquisition โ a compulsory component in every year of the programme, developing students for a global workplace
- Individuals and Societies โ exploring human experience, society, and the world through disciplines like history, geography, and economics
- Sciences โ developing scientific inquiry, knowledge, and application
- Mathematics โ building mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and application skills
- Arts โ developing creative expression across visual and performing arts
- Physical and Health Education โ building physical literacy, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyle choices
- Design โ applying the design cycle to solve real-world problems through inquiry and innovation
Each subject group requires at least 50 hours of teaching time per year, and in the final two years of the programme, defined subject group flexibility allows students to meet local requirements and personal learning goals.
Curriculum framework
The MYP is built around key and related concepts that help students explore big ideas, and global contexts that help students recognize the relevance of their studies to real-world challenges, alongside approaches to learning that develop research, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and self-management skills. Students also engage in at least one collaboratively planned interdisciplinary unit each year, involving at least two subject groups. The programme culminates in an independent Personal Project, a significant piece of work completed over an extended period.
Upcoming curriculum update: the IB is introducing enhancements to the MYP framework, with full mandatory implementation by September 2027 and the first eAssessment under the new model in May 2030. Core assessment criteria (A-D) remain unchanged in this initial phase. This collection includes resources aligned with the current framework as the transition unfolds.
