DP Computer Science
The 2025 IB DP Computer Science curriculum introduces two key themes: Concepts of Computer Science (covering networks, databases, and machine learning) and Computational Thinking & Problem-Solving (including programming, OOP, and abstract data types for HL). Machine learning is a new addition, reflecting advancements in the field.
The assessment structure has been streamlined—Paper 3 is removed, while SL and HL students now take two external exams: Paper 1 (problem-solving and code interpretation in Java or Python) and Paper 2 (real-world applications). The internal assessment now focuses on developing a computational solution, incorporating a collaborative science project to encourage interdisciplinary learning.
