Mathematics for the IB Diploma: Applications and Interpretation Standard Level Workbook 2nd Edition (NYP Due May 2026)
Exam Practice Workbook for Mathematics for the IB Diploma: Applications and Interpretation SL, 2nd Edition is the companion workbook to Hachette Learning’s AI SL student book, updated for the new IB Math AI SL course (2027 subject guide, first exams May 2029). Written by Paul Fannon, Vesna Kadelburg and Stephen Ward, it gives students hundreds of exam-style questions, mock papers and full mark schemes to build confidence through the two-year course.
A Ready-Made Practice Resource for Your AI SL Classes
This workbook gives teachers targeted practice for every topic without writing it from scratch. It works as homework, independent study, revision or extension, and every question is linked to a specific learning objective in the new IB guide. That makes it easy to set practice that matches exactly what you’ve just taught.
What’s Inside
- Hundreds of questions mapped line by line to the latest IB guide, so practice lines up with your scheme of work
- Mock exam papers with fully worked mark schemes, ideal for timed practice and in-class mocks
- Revision guidance and exam technique to help students approach IB-style questions
- Calculator skills support, essential for the technology-focused AI course
- Mark scheme advice showing students how marks are awarded
- Syllabus mapping charts and revision checklists for students and teachers to track progress and spot weak areas
- Recap and consolidation opportunities across the whole course
Updated for the 2027 AI SL Syllabus
The IB has refined the AI course for students starting in August 2027. This workbook is aligned to the new course, so students don’t waste time practising topics that are no longer examined.
Key changes to AI SL:
- Removed: logarithms, and approximating areas with the trapezoidal rule
- No new content added
- Shorter exams: Paper 1 and Paper 2 are now 75 marks each (previously 80)
- New IA criteria, shared with HL: problem specification, abstraction, computation and interpretation
Teacher tip: Older AI SL workbooks still include logarithm and trapezoidal-rule questions and 80-mark practice papers. For classes starting in 2027, use resources written for the new guide.
