Updated for the New IB Math AA Syllabus
The IB has revised the Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches course for students starting the Diploma Programme from August 2027. This second edition is updated for the new course guide, so students learn exactly what will be examined from 2029.
Key changes in the new SL course:
- Content removed at SL: financial applications and bivariate data
- No new content added, giving a more focused, coherent course
- Shorter exams: SL Papers 1 and 2 are now 75 marks each (previously 80)
- Revised internal assessment: the mathematical exploration now uses new criteria shared by SL and HL, which are problem specification, abstraction, computation and interpretation
What’s Inside
- Clear explanations of key concepts and applications, with plenty of worked examples and model answers
- Thousands of practice questions, color-coded by difficulty, with full worked solutions for every question
- Real-world examples and starter activities that build problem-solving skills
- Exam preparation with past paper questions plus complete practice exam papers and mark schemes
- Mapped to the new IB guide, so it’s easy to follow through the course
- Focus on functions and calculus, the heart of the AA course, building strong algebra skills for work with and without a calculator
