Primary Years Program
38 titlesThe IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based curriculum framework for children aged 3 to 12, designed to nurture students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Rather than teaching in isolated subjects, the PYP organizes learning around six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, helping students build conceptual understanding across, between, and beyond traditional subject boundaries. This collection brings together print, digital, and bundle resources from leading publishers, including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson Education, Hachette Learning, and IB Source, to support PYP classrooms and schools.
The 6 Transdisciplinary Themes
- Who we are โ identity, beliefs, values, and personal wellbeing
- Where we are in place and time โ personal histories, homes, journeys, and civilizations
- How we express ourselves โ creativity, ideas, and communication
- How the world works โ natural laws, technology, and scientific principles
- How we organize ourselves โ human systems, communities, and organizations
- Sharing the planet โ rights, responsibilities, and shared resources
Curriculum framework
The PYP is built around seven key concepts that give units of inquiry a clear conceptual focus: form, function, causation, change, connection, perspective, and responsibility. These concepts, combined with the transdisciplinary themes, form the basis of each school's unique Programme of Inquiry, guiding units taught across the 3-12 age range.
Note: the PYP is undergoing updates, with new transdisciplinary theme descriptors published in December 2024 and new PYP subject guidance published in April 2025, to be fully implemented by September 2027. This collection includes resources aligned with the current and updated framework as it rolls out.
